"A+"
System
For outdoor shows with up to 3,500 in attendance. Add delay stacks (remote/satellite speakers) and two additional JBL SRX 728s subs to our "A" system (below) to increase coverage. Add $500 to "A" system cost.

"A" System

The Plantation Productions "A" system is perfect for loud outdoor concerts with between 1,000 and 2,500 audience members or as many as 3,000 attendees indoors.

The "A" system completely uses "professional" audio gear from well-known brand names and will prove acceptable for use by performers who demand "pro" level gear on their riders.

Check Out Our "A" System Here

Technical Requirements:

  • 150 amps at 120v for the main and monitor sound system amplifiers.
  • For best results, an area of at least 16'(w) x 4'(d) x 2'(h) should be available in front of the stage for subwoofer placement. We can work around this space not being available, with possibly reduced subwoofer output.
  • L+R Stereo speakers require 4'(w) x 3'(d) x 5'(h) space on either side of the performance stage. For best results, the speakers themselves should be on a platform at least 2' (and preferably 3'-5') above the floor where the audience will be standing or sitting.
  • FOH mixing position should be at least 45' from the stage. An 8'w x6'd (minimum) area is required for the mixing station. 120v power (15 amps) must be available at this location. We must be able to run a network cable, snake, and possibly a power line to this station. Working with straight wireless is possible in very limited circumstances, but not recommended.
  • "A+" system requires 150 amps of power for amplifiers, with 40 amps available at the FOH position (or 20 amps at the delay stack position).

Labor included:
One road crew employee
Two sound engineers (FOH and monitor engineers)

Typical Schedule:
3-hour setup
1/2-hour sound check
1/2-hour quiet time/doors open
2-hour show
2-hour strike
System Price $1,750
Show time beyond two hours $200/hr

"A-"
System
For smaller shows that demand all "pro" gear. Half the speakers and amps (FOH) from our "A" system. Basically, our "B" system on steroids. Good for between 750 and 1,000 audience members.
Labor included:
One road crew employee
Two sound engineers (FOH and monitor engineers)
Typical Schedule:
3-hour setup
1/2-hour sound check
1/2-hour quiet time/doors open
2-hour show
2-hour strike
System Price $1,250
Show time beyond two hours $150/hr
Add two JBL SRX 712m monitors $150

"B" System

The Plantation Productions "B" system is perfect for indoor/outdoor concerts featuring performers who provide their own instrument amplification. This system will support between 250-500 (outdoor) and 500-750 (indoor) attendees. Easily supports up to four performers on stage.

Although this setup is great for many local acts and produces great sound and a reasonable sound level for rock shows with smaller crowds, keep in mind that we use lower-cost gear (than our "A" system) in this rig. That (plus reduced labor cost) is why we can rent this system out for significantly less than our "A" rig. However, if your performers are in a position to make demands about the sound system, you should pass the "B" system specifications along to them before committing to using this system. Fear not, the gear is all well-respected brand names (JBL, Crown, DBX, Allen & Heath), it's just not the highest-end gear from these companies.

Technical Requirements:

  • 40-50 amps at 120v for the main and monitor sound system amplifiers.
  • L+R Stereo speakers require 3'(w) x 2'(d) x 4'(h) space on either side of the performance stage.
We must be able to run a snake, and possibly a power line to this station.

Labor included:
One sound engineer (FOH and monitor engineer/road crew)

Typical Schedule:
3-hour setup
1/2-hour sound check
1/2-hour quiet time/doors open
2-hour show
2-hour strike
System Price $850
Show time beyond two hours $125/hr

"C" System The Plantation Productions "C" system is perfect for small events featuring solo artists or bands with 2-3 members who don't have complex monitor requirements. This system will support 125 (outdoor) or 250 (indoor) audience members at a reasonable sound level. If the performers provide their own instrument amplification, the audience size can be boosted by a small amount.

Check Out Our "C" System Here

Technical Requirements:

  • 20-30 amps at 120v for the main and monitor sound system amplifiers.
  • L+R Stereo speakers require 3'(w) x 3'(d) x 6'(h) space on either side of the performance stage.
  • Mixing is done from the side of the stage.

Labor included:
One sound engineer (FOH and monitor engineer)

Typical Schedule:
1-hour setup
1/2-hour sound check
1/2-hour quiet time/doors open
2-hour show
1-hour strike
System Price $650
Show time beyond two hours $100/hr

Check Out Our "D" System Here

The Fine Print:

A small mileage fee will apply for venues in excess of 25 miles from downtown Riverside, CA.

Additional fees may apply if the setup and teardown times are not immediately prior to and after the show.

Because venues vary, setup/teardown times will also vary; extra charge in extreme/difficult cases.

All times and setup charges assume that all necessary power is available at the point of performance. Extra setup time (and charge) applies if Plantation Productions must provide power distribution or power generation services.

For larger shows, particularly with musicians, you should allow at least 1/2 hour for a sound check before opening the gate. Many performers will want a longer sound check time period.

Generators, when provided, need to be operated continuously from the point of the line check (1/2 to 1 hours before sound check) to about 1/2 hour after the show is over. If insufficient lighting is available for show strike, the generator may need to be operated during strike to provide power for lighting.

"A" Lighting Rig The Plantation Productions "A" lighting rig consists of 8-12 incandescent PAR 64 fixtures. This setup is great for providing basic illumination (lots of light) to a 32'x20' or smaller stage.

Check Out Our "A" Lighting Rig Here

Technical Requirements:

  • 40-60 amps at 120v . Slightly more if you wish to use dimmer packs to control the lighting
  • For best results, do not use dimmer packs on a stage with audio where the electrical power for the lights and audio system is the same; dimmer packs introduce electrical noise on the electrical power lines. This effect can be eliminated by using a separate generator for the lights (or by using LED fixtures rather than incandescent fixtures; see lighting rig "B").
  • Lighting fixtures are hung from a 12" rectangular truss. Fixtures should be at least 2' above the performers heads (higher is better). Therefore, there should be at least 12' of clearance from the ground (where the truss stands will be place) and any upper obstruction (such as a ceiling).
  • Truss stands need a 4'x4' relatively flat area, each
  • Truss is generally 10' to 40' and the stands will need to be in a couple of feet on either side of the truss. To avoid blocking the view of the stage with the truss stands, you should allow at least 4' on either side of the stage for the truss stands.
  • If you use dimmer packs, we must be able to run DMX cables to an apporpriate position from which we can control the lights.

Labor included:
One road crew employee (and lighting designer if using dimmer packs).

Typical Schedule:
1-hour setup (2 hours if using dimmer packs)
2-hour show
1-hour strike
System Price $400 ($500/dimmers)
Add to audio package $350 ($350/dimmers)
Show time beyond two hours $50/hr ($50/hr w/dimmers)

"B" Lighting Rig The Plantation Productions "B" lighting rig consists of 12 ADJ PAR64B LED fixtures (23W each) and four Chauvet ColorPAR fixtures. These DMX-controlled RGB fixtures contain dozens of red, green, and blue LEDs that can be mixed to produce any color of the rainbox. These fixtures are perfect in situations where low-power operation and no electrical noise are needed.

Stage Section Rentals

Check out our stage and truss rental descriptions here

Labor included:
Three road crew employees

Typical Schedule:
5 to 10-minute setup per section

Note: Minimum transportation and setup charge of $250 for small stages whose price is below $250.

4' x 8' hardwood section $40
4' x 4' hardwood section $30
Two-step stair unit $10
Three-step stair unit $15

Velour skirting

To compute the amount of skirting required for three sides of a stage, add two times the depth of the full stage to the width of the stage. If the stairs are going to be situated on the side of the stage, subtract 4' from the total.

$1.50/ft
Shimming. If the area where the stage is to be set up is not level, or is not hard ground (e.g., concrete or asphalt), an extra shimming charge may apply. Contact Plantation Productions, Inc.

Railing (4' sections)

To compute the number of railing sections needed, add two times the depth of the full stage to two times the width of the stage and subtract 8' from the total; then divide by 4'.

Note: railing is required for any platform higher than 30". For example, if you set a drum riser against the back of the stage, local codes require railing on the drum risers (two sections)

$15/section

Choir Riser Rentals Choir risers are 6' wide (tapered) with three levels (6' at the top level). Depending on the size of the people being placed on the risers (e.g., large adults versus children), you can get anywhere between 8 and 16 people on each riser section.

As an option, you can add colored lamp fixtures between the screens to produce a nice effect (only effective when dark).

Labor included:
Two road crew employees

Typical Schedule:
1-hour setup
2-hour show
1-hour strike
Price $200
Add 10 Par38/CFL fixtures with gels $100

Full Truss Rentals

Plantation Productions, Inc., and provide a trussing system in one of several configurations:

24'x20'x12' with legs, cross-beam support and a hard roof (weather proof).

This truss is suitable mainly for long engagements because of the extensive setup and strike time involved. Perfect for events where the stage must be completely covered from sun, rain, etc. A complete lighting harness can be added to provide illumination for night time shows. This truss will cover a 24'x16'x2' stage. This setup includes mesh tarps on the back (and, optionally, on one side) of the stage that acts as a scrim and wind break.

An 18'x20'x12' truss option is also available, which will cover a 16'x16'x2' stage for venues requiring a smaller footprint.

Setup for this option is 12-16 hours with a 6-man road crew, depending on the options selected (spread out over two 8-hour days).

24'x20' truss roof on adjustable stands with a mesh tarp roof.

This truss is practical for one-day events that need shade over the performers. The setup and strike is far less extensive than the full box truss. You don't get the hard roof (which protects the stage from rain) but the mesh tarp will provide shade for the performers. This setup includes a scrim for the background; you may also hang banners and signs on the truss as desired. Optionally, you can add a lighting package to the truss.

Setup for this option is 3-4 hours with a 4-main road crew, depending on the options selected.

24'x20'x12' full truss with hard roof $2,500 setup/strike plus $100/day
24'x20' truss on stands $1,000 setup/strike plus $100/day
Add wiring harness 30-40 CFL Par 38 cans to truss for illumination $500
Add a lighting package to a truss setup Take 25% off the price of any Plantation Productions Lighting Package.
